Regular Events
Rockville Libertarian Night Out meets on the second Wednesday of each month from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm (or sometimes later) at Bennigan's on Rockville Pike in Federal Plaza, near the intersection of Twinbrook Parkway (behind the Texaco gas station), relatively close to the population center of Montgomery County. From I-270, take Montrose Road east 2.2 miles to Rockville Pike (MD355). Turn left on Rockville Pike, proceed northwest 0.4 mile, then turn left at the traffic light at the entrance to Federal Plaza, just beyond Mattress Discounters which is also on the left. Bennigan's is in Federal Plaza, close to the Pike, and the Bennigan's sign is plainly visible from Rockville Pike. There are many beers on tap and a large low cost selection in their menu. If you have difficulty finding the table in the restaurant area, look for a small LP sign sitting on the table where the group is seated, or ask the greeter at the entrance for the 'Libertarian group'. The table could be just about anywhere in the restaurant, so look around. Contact: Nick Sarwark.
7:00 pm on the fourth Tuesday at the 94th Aero Squadron in College Park. From the Beltway (495), go south on Rt 1 towards College Park. Once near campus, look for Paint Branch Hwy. Left at traffic light onto Paint Branch Hwy. Pass three traffic lights. 94th is on the left -- 5240 Paint Branch Pkwy. (301-699-9400). Alternatively, from the Beltway take Kenilworth Ave. south to Good Luck Rd. / Paint Branch Parkway. Right on Paint Branch and the restaurant is on the right. We meet in the bar/lounge area (smoking permitted) unless the weather is really nice (in which case we meet in the biergarten). Our meetings are open to everyone interested in the ideas of liberty. You do not have to be a Libertarian to attend! Click for map. Contact: Chip Spangler.
Dates, Times, and Locations vary. The event is held in different months in either Charles, Calvert, or St. Mary's county. Announcements will be posted on the SMLP-A Yahoo! Group list and posted on the LPMD web site. Contact: Chip Spangler.
The Liberty Lightning [aka Liberty Lobbers 8^) ] will be starting up its new season starting on Sunday, September 12. The league will end in April. You don't have to be a fantastic bowler to join the league, it's a fun -- with the emphasis on fun -- non-sanctioned group, and nobody's likely to hit a perfect 300. In the time that we have been bowling, however, people who started off with an average around 50 ended up much closer to 100 with all the practice! Last year, we had 5 regular bowlers, and we'd like to improve on the totals. If you're interested, please let me know so I'll have an idea of how many to expect. Eight would be ideal, but we'll be happy to include more! Cost for each night is $10.00. Alternate Sundays at 6:30 pm at AMF Ritchie Lanes, 6608 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie, MD 21061. Directions: from the Baltimore beltway, take Route 2 south (if coming from the east, take Route 2 north and make a U-turn); just past the Krispy Kreme turn right and the bowling center is behind the Exxon station. Contact Steve Boone for dates and more information.
